A T1 line is a digital internet connection that can carry up to 192,000 bytes per second -- equivalent to 60 times more data than a 56k dial-up line. A normal phone line
used for home or business is composed of a pair of copper wires. When you use a
modem with this line, it can transmit data around 30 kilobits/second.
A T1 is a fiber-optic line capable of carrying 24 digitized voice channels, or it can carry about 192,000 bytes
of data per second, which is about 60 times faster than a modem. It also
provides consistently reliable and stable connections and is more reliable than
a modem. Additionally, a T1 is capable of serving all users' internet
connections in most offices. |
